Play Minded therapeutic approach
Hello, I’m Laura and I am a child-centred play therapist working with children and families in Southeast Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Northwest London and West London. I set- up Play Minded with the single vision to help support children, young people, and families during times of difficulty and change.
Central to my work is the trusting relationship I build with each child and young person. I believe that healing begins when a child or young person feels safe, accepted, and truly understood. This connection lays the foundation for self-discovery, resilience, and emotional growth. My role is to provide the space, safety, and support for that process to unfold.
As a therapist I strongly belief in the power of play and creative expression holds to help young people make sense of their experiences. Children and young people often have the power within for therapeutic change and will know in their own way, how to communicate this through a medium they feel most comfortable with. Going at the child and young person’s pace, always guided by their needs whether talking, playing or using creative tools to express what might feel too big or confusing to put into words is vital so that therapy is provided in a safe way.
What is Play Therapy?
Play is vital in supporting all aspects of a child’s emotional, social, physical and cognitive development. Play therapy today is therefore widely recognised as an effective therapy that can help to improve children’s mental health and well-being. Play provides opportunities for children to learn about their world and experiences through self-discovery and exploration of the toys and art materials provided each week.

"Laura has been incredible with our teen. She created a space where they felt truly heard and understood, which isn’t always easy at that age. We’ve seen real growth in their ability to manage emotions and communicate more openly. We’re so grateful for the support and insight Laura has provided."

"Before I started therapy with Laura, I felt like I was carrying everything alone. Talking to her felt different like someone actually got me. She didn’t judge, just listened and helped me make sense of stuff I couldn’t say out loud before. It’s made a real difference in how I feel about myself."
